GOLDEN Artist Colors ACRYLIC GELS, PASTES, & MEDIUMS

GOLDEN Gels and Mediums offer a range of possibilities for the artist, modifying the consistency of paint, allowing artists to modify the opacity and translucency of their colors, and to build unique textures, among other possibilities. Gel Mediums as a class are generally transparent to translucent, and offer a range in consistency from pourable to moldable. They may be used to create glazes, extend paints, build texture, change finishes and work as a gluing agent for collages. Pastes are generally opaque, more commonly used to build textured surfaces that paint will be applied on top of rather than mixed into. Pastes can still be mixed with color, though they have a tinting effect due to their opacity. GOLDEN Airbrush Medium

Airbrush Medium is for modifying Heavy Body, Iridescent, Interference and Fluid Acrylics for spray application. Using the Airbrush Medium will effectively decrease clogging and tip build up. Recommended when spraying artwork on clothing.

GOLDEN Clear Granular Gel

Clear Granular Gel offers excellent clarity and durability. It has a thick viscosity similar to the consistency of Extra Coarse Pumice Gel but it dires clear, without distorting the colour. Glass Bead Gel is coarse, textured and has the same viscosity as a Heavy Body acrylic. Made with genuine glass beads, its unique visual effect is best seen in thin films. It can appear very similar to Coarse Pumice Gel or Clear Granular Gel when mixed with enough paint to hide the appearance of the glass beads.

GOLDEN Clear Levelling Gel

Clear Leveling Gel produces an even film with excellent clarity. The gel has a unique resinous, stringy consistency resulting form the leveling property. It dries to a flexible, high gloss film.

GOLDEN Clear Tar Gel

Clear Tar Gel yields a sticky, tar-like feel in a colourless gel. Clear Tar Gel is useful for generating fine detailed lines by "drizzling" it over surfaces, as it continuously flows from palette knives or other tools, for a stringy, linear effect.

GOLDEN Coarse Molding Paste

Coarse Molding Paste dries to a hard surface that is stiff but flexible with a tooth like fine sandpaper. It is transluscent when applied thinly and accepts wet and dry media.

GOLDEN Coarse Pumice Gel

Pumice Gel offers various grades of gritty textures which dry to hard films. To increase flexibility, mix in other GOLDEN Gels or Mediums. Pumice gels mix well with Golden Acrylic colours. Coarse Pumice Gel and Extra Coarse Pumice Gel create incredibly coarse granular textures to yield concrete-like finishes.

GOLDEN Color Pouring Medium (Matte)

Color Pouring Mediums help artists to achieve quality results with paint pours. Pouring Mediums are low viscosity, pourable, self-levelling mediums with low-crazing extenders to reduce the chances of cracks and fissures in the finished surface. Mix Heavy Body, Fluid, or High Flow Acrylics into Color Pouring Medium. Color Pouring Medium Matte provides a low luster finish on color pours. Colors hold their edges when poured wet into wet. Gently mix 10 parts Color Pouring Medium with 1 part acrylic color, allow mixture to sit covered (ideally overnight) to eliminate air bubbles. Pour close to the surface to reduce air bubbles. Paintings may need to dry for a few days before moving and tenting is recommended. Do not pour thicker than 1/8” (3mm) or attempt to accelerate drying.

GOLDEN Crackle Paste

Crackle Paste is a thick, opaque cracking material designed to develop deep fissure-like cracks as it cures. The size and extent of the crackle pattern is dependent on many factors and it should only be used on rigid supports like board or panel. Not recommended for use on stretched canvas.

GOLDEN Extra Heavy Gel/Molding Paste

Extra Heavy Gel / Molding Paste, a blend of Extra Heavy Gel and Molding Paste, dries to a satin, semi-opaque finish and blends well with colours.

GOLDEN Extra Coarse Pumice Gel

Pumice Gel offers various grades of gritty textures which dry to hard films. To increase flexibility, mix in other GOLDEN Gels or Mediums. Pumice gels mix well with Golden Acrylic colours. Coarse Pumice Gel and Extra Coarse Pumice Gel create incredibly coarse granular textures to yield concrete-like finishes.

GOLDEN Extra Heavy Gel (Matte or Semi-Gloss)

Extra Heavy Gel is Golden's thickest gel. It may be blended with colors to increase body. Excellent for holding peaks and tool marks. Available in Matte or Semi-Gloss.

GOLDEN Fine Pumice Gel

Pumice Gel offers various grades of gritty textures which dry to hard films. To increase flexibility, mix in other GOLDEN Gels or Mediums. Pumice gels mix well with Golden Acrylic colours. Fine Pumice Gel creates fine, textured surfaces.

GOLDEN Fiber Paste

Fiber Paste offers a dry film that has the appearance of rough hand-made paper. Its absorbent properties make it ideal for acrylic washes. Works great as a painting ground for acrylics or watercolors, though special care must be taken to seal finished watercolors, which are a non-permanent medium.

GOLDEN Fluid Matte Medium

Fluid Matte Medium is a liquid medium useful for extending colours, decreasing gloss and increasing film integrity. This product is particularly useful with GOLDEN Fluid acrylics to decrease gloss without altering viscosity. It is also useful as a transluscent ground on canvas.

GOLDEN Glass Bead Gel

Glass Bead Gel is made with genuine glass beads, offers a unique effect similar to condensation on glass - best seen in thin films over a light color to allow the glass beads to be illuminated.

GOLDEN Glazing Liquid (Gloss or Satin)

Gloss Glazing Liquid and Satin Glazing Liquid (formerly Acrylic Glazing Liquid) can be mixed with GOLDEN Acrylic colors to create semi-transparent glazes for fine art painting as well as decorative interior applications on walls or furniture. The slow drying formula provides sufficient working time for a wide variety of glaze and decorative finishes normally accomplished with oils. It is also excellent for soft transitions and color blending in paintings.

GOLDEN Gloss Medium

Gloss Medium (formerly Polymer Medium Gloss) is useful for creating glazes, extending colours, enhancing gloss and translucency. It has a fluid consistency, great for lowering the viscosity of Heavy Body paints, for a more fluid consistency, while maintaining the integrity of the dried paint film (compared to the use of water to thin acrylics, which weakens the paint film).

GOLDEN Hard Molding Paste

Hard Molding Paste dries to a extremely hard, semi-opaque film, it is useful for creating tough, durable finishes for smooth or textured surfaces. It can be carved into after drying using sharp hand tools, or power tools like a dremel. Users should take care to avoid the inhalation of acrylic dust produced by carving or sanding.

GOLDEN Heavy Gel (Matte, Gloss, or Semi-Gloss)

Heavy Gels are thicker than Heavy Body Acrylic colours and may be blended with colours to increase body. Excellent for holding peaks.

GOLDEN High Flow Medium

High Flow Medium [formerly Airbrush Transparent Extender] increases the transparency and film hardness of High Flow Acrylics. May be mixed in any ratio desired, for precise control of transparency.

GOLDEN High Solid Gel (Gloss)

High Solid Gel is similar in body to Heavy Gels. They contain more acrylic solids and less water and shrink slightly less in the drying process compared to other gels. They blend well with colors and will retain brush strokes upon drying. Available in gloss.

GOLDEN Light Molding Paste

Light Molding Paste offers dramatic weight reduction when building thick layers of acrylics. It dries to an opaque, matte finish, is much softer than Molding Paste and is extremely flexible with an almost spongey consistency once dry, depending on the thickness of the layer. Light Molding Paste is also abosrbent, working great as a ground for acrylic stains or watercolor paint.

GOLDEN Matte Medium

Matte Medium is a general purpose medium for extending colour, decreasing gloss and increasing film integrity. Semi-fluid consistency, lower than Heavy Body, but thicker than Fluid acrylics due to the addition of calcium carbonate as a matting agent. The gritty, matte texture makes Matte Medium a great option to use as a Clear Gesso.

GOLDEN Molding Paste

Molding Paste provides a hard opaque, matte finish. Although still flexible, it is more rigid than the Gels, and works great for holding texture and stiff peaks. Acrylic colors can be mixed into Molding Paste, however, the white opaque nature of the Paste has a tinting effect on color. Pastes are often used to build textured surfaces that paint is applied to after the Paste dries.

GOLDEN Regular Gel (Matte, Gloss, or Semi-Gloss)

Regular Gels are creamy like Heavy Body Acrylic colours. Ideal for extending paint and regulating transparency without changing the consistency. Use for impasto glazing effects. Available in Gloss, Matte, and Semi-Gloss, for modifying sheen. Gloss dries crystal clear, semi-gloss has a slight cloudiness, and matte is even cloudier. The degree of cloudiness depends largely on the thickness of the paint layer. Because of their transparency, color can be mixed into gels without changing the quality of the color.

GOLDEN Silkscreen Medium

Silkscreen Medium is a waterborne system de­signed for use with GOLDEN Acrylic Colors to make them suitable for silkscreen printing on paper, wood, canvas, or other surface. It increases the working time and retards drying in the screen. NOTE: Silkscreen Medium is NOT designed for clothing application.

GOLDEN Soft Gel (Matte, Gloss, or Semi-Gloss)

Soft Gels are thinner than Heavy Body Acrylic Colours and can be poured. When mixed with a small amount of colour they produce a brilliant glaze. Soft gels can be used as a base for the wet blending of colour or as a glue for collage work. Available in Gloss, Matte, and Semi-Gloss, for modifying sheen. Gloss dries crystal clear, semi-gloss has a slight cloudiness, and matte is even cloudier. The degree of cloudiness depends largely on the thickness of the layer. Because of their transparency, color can be mixed into gels without changing the quality of the color.

GOLDEN Super Matte Medium

Super Matte Medium (formerly Super Loaded Matte Medium) is a pourable medium useful for reducing gloss while using only very small amounts. It therefore effects other paint attributes the least. Super-Loaded Matte Medium should alway be blended with other acrylic products, the high concentration of matting agent makes the paint film unstable on its own.
