Mounted Panels

Gotrick Mounted Panels are high quality, rigid wood supports, perfect for a range of media and techniques, including encaustics, oils, acrylics, paint pours, collage, and mixed media. Wood panels offer a great surface alternative no matter what kind of work you make, but they are especially ideal for any medium that is particularly brittle, fragile, or prone to cracking because they are rigid and stable, unlike stretched canvas, which can flex and stretch. The panel faces are made from high quality 1/8-inch birch plywood. The "cradle" backings come in two thicknesses and are made from poplar. Both styles come unprimed, with each panel offering a one-of-a-kind wood grain pattern. Priming and/or sealing of the wood surface is strongly recommended for oil painting to achieve the best long-term archival stability. Because acrylics are inherently acid-free and archival, you can apply them to these panels without any priming or surface preparation if you would like to allow the natural woodgrain to show through. To achieve a smoother, less absorbant surface, you can apply an acrylic sealer and/or gesso beforehand. Sealing and priming also offers the best protection against the possibility of support induced discoloration. Please contact our staff for the availability of sizes.
