Ampersand Primed Panels and Related Materials

Gessobord

Claybord and Gessobord are available in a variety of finishes and sizes. Each finish has a unique, correctable surface that accepts oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastel, egg tempera, gouache and pencil. Excellent for multi media work! Each primed hardboard is 1/8" thick, ph neutral, non-yellowing and can be displayed without framing. 

Claybord (Smooth)

Each Claybord Smooth panel is coated with a soft, absorbent clay. The sensitive nature of the clay surface accommodates a wide range of media (see above) in addition to encaustics, collage, gold leaf, printmaking and photo transfers.

Aquabord (formerly Claybord Textured)

Each Aquabord (Claybord Textured) panel is coated with a soft, absorbent kaolin clay. Ideal for watercolours, this multimedia material simulated the absorbency and texture of cold pressed paper with some distinct advantages. The clay minerals holds colours in suspension, allowing them to flow into each other, creating seamless washes. The surface provides great control without ever buckling - even after repeated washing, layering and glazing.

Pastelbord

Each Pastelbord panel is a hand crafted clay-coated hardboard with a granular, marble dust finish. The coating is pH neutral and non-yellowing, making Pastelbord a truly permanent, museum quality painting surface that will hold endless layers of pastels. For an added bonus, Pastelbord's rigid hardboard support makes on location painting wonderfully simple. You can leave your easel at home! Available in Grey. Additional colours may be available for special order.

Scratchbord

Scratchbord (Claybord Black) panels are coated with white kaolin clay and then sprayed with India ink. This is an ideal surface for scratch art.
