Charcoal

Vine/Willow Charcoal

Vine charcoal is created by burning wood sticks (usually willow). The resulting sticks are soft and easily blended, perfect for rough sketching, finished drawings and preparatory sketches for paintings or drawings completed in other media.

Compressed Charcoal

Charcoal powder is mixed with gum binder and compressed into round or square sticks. The amount of binder determines the hardness of the stick. Compressed charcoal is also used in charcoal pencils.

Charcoal Pencils
