Jonathan Forrest "Cross-Section"
Reception: Saturday November 15, from 2-4pm
November 15 - December 4, 2008
For over 25 years, Jonathan Forrest has pursued a consistently evolving exploration of abstraction. Born in 1962 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Jonathan immigrated to Canada in 1977. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan and has participated in several artists’ workshops including many of the Emma Lake Artists’ Workshops, the “Saskatchewan Invitational Artists’ Workshop” (Emma Lake), and the Triangle Artists’ Workshop (Brooklyn). His public collections include the Canada Council Art Bank, Mendel Art Gallery, Glenbow Museum, Calgary, and Edmonton Art Gallery. Painted at his studio in an old rural church, the works in this show continue his journey exploring structure, space, colour and texture with a fresh emphasis on a subtle earth-toned palette.
