About Us

Established in 1978, The Gallery / art placement inc. is a commercial art gallery in downtown Saskatoon on Treaty Six Land. It presents a year-round schedule of solo and group exhibitions, showcasing contemporary, modern, and historical works by notable artists from the province and region. The gallery is a long-time member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) and the Saskatchewan Professional Art Galleries Association (SaskGalleries). It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Gallery hours: 9:00am to 5:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday. CLOSED Sunday and Monday

Levi Nicholat is co-owner of The Gallery/Art Placement Inc., a longstanding commercial gallery in Saskatoon that also operates a picture framing shop and art supplies store. He oversees all facets of the business, including the gallery's exhibition program. Since assuming leadership in 2013, he has organized more than one hundred exhibitions. In 2016 he expanded and relocated the gallery to a much larger street-front space on 3rd Avenue South just around the corner from its previous back lane location. He previously served on the board of AKA artist-run centre as Treasurer, as well as on committees for the Saskatchewan Professional Art Galleries Association (SaskGalleries), including as chair of the organizing committee for the inaugural Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair in 2016. He completed a BFA and MFA at the University of Saskatchewan, with a specialization in painting. His thesis exhibition was honoured with the Graduate Thesis Award for the Social Sciences and Humanities.

Linda Stark has been the gallery manager since 2007, overseeing its day to day operations. She has been with The Gallery/Art Placement Inc. for more than twenty years, having held various positions within the organization before assuming her management role in the gallery. She is the primary contact for all matters relating to the gallery, providing valuable service and support for both clients and artists. Linda studied at the University of Saskatchewan, where she completed an Honours Degree in Art History. In the past, she has volunteered and contributed to a number of cultural organizations in the city, having served as a board member with The Photographer's Gallery, BlackFlash Magazine, and The Marr Residence. Linda served as the director of the St. Thomas More Gallery and Art Collection at the University of Saskatchewan between 1996 and 2022, and currently serves as the President of The Saskatchewan Professional Art Galleries Association (SaskGalleries).
