Clint Hunker "41 North"

This exhibition of Clint Hunkers recent work features small-scale oil paintings on panel and linen. The pieces were all painted off Highway 41 in the Aberdeen, Alvena, Wakaw area and they explore Clints ongoing investigation into his unique vision of the prairie. Hunkers characteristic aesthetic understatement is quite at odds with the contemporary pace. Appreciation of these works requires the viewer to slow down in order to see the rich range of Clints palette squeezed out of a seemingly narrow range of neutral colour. Contained gesture and painterly incident enliven these works making the viewing experience rich and rewarding.
