Ellen Moffat

As a media artist, sound, text and image are central to my practice, rooted in the vocabulary of sculptural installation - the body, space and materiality. My multi-channel projects use various methods and techniques for sound processing, physical interfaces, objects, contact mics and real-time sound processing, and hi-low aesthetics and technology in installation, live actions and performance. Visualization of sound and the sonification of data are recent areas of research. My production spans independent, collaborative and interdisciplinary projects.

My work has been exhibited throughout Canada and internationally in Paris, Tel Aviv, Copenhagen, New York, Florida and Venice. Selected presentations include pingtingtootle, CAFKA (2013); Place Markers: Mapping Locations and Placing Boundaries, Halifax (2012); Seasonal Waves, Calgary (2100-2012); Marking Space, Brooklyn (2011); Night Trains, Tel Aviv (2008); COMP OSE, Toronto, Chatham, and Saskatoon (2008-09); ICMC, Copenhagen (2007); Sounds Nervouse, Vancouver (2006); Future Cities, Hamilton (2004); Sprawl, London, Ontario (2003); Utopia Station, Venice Biennale (2003).

Professional Associations: Professional Affiliate with Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Saskatchewan and a member of Tracing the City, an interdisciplinary SSHRC-Creation and Production (2011-14).

Born in Toronto, I have lived and worked throughout Canada. I currently live in Saskatoon.
