Nancy LowryNancy Lowry was born in Toronto in 1978 and grew up in Saskatoon. She has been making art for as long as she can remember. She first started working in landscape through a teen workshop at Emma Lake, and it seems to have stuck. After studying liberal arts, painting and drawing at the U of S she went on to complete her BFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2003. While out East she was in a group of landscape painters who went on painting expeditions and exhibited together. After graduating she did a one-month residency in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. Workshops and residencies have been an important part of her practice; providing an opportunity to work in different places and meet and see other artists in action. In 2005 she did an artist’s residency through the Triangle Arts Association in Brooklyn, NY where she began to explore the urban landscape in paint. She is now working out of her Saskatoon studio where she continues to explore her ‘ paintscapes’.
