Betsy Rosenwald

Betsy Rosenwald was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She received a BA from Beloit College (Wisconsin) and MFA from Brooklyn College (New York). Rosenwald was a member of the East Village artist run centre PS122 from 1980 until 1999, when she moved to Saskatoon. Her work was featured in the Banff Centre's online cultural publication, Boulderpavement: Art and Ideas (Issue #9-2013, Repetition). As a graphic designer, she received her CGD certification from the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) and has designed publications for many artists, galleries, and businesses. She is the former art editor/designer for Grain, a national literary magazine. She has exhibited throughout the U.S. and internationally, and her paintings are represented in the collections of the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the Canada Council Art Bank. Rosenwald is a multimedia artist who regularly works with a variety of materials. For the last several years, she has dedicated a great deal of her focus to encaustic painting. Enjoying the unique features of the medium and its very tactile nature, her encaustic works allude to a variety of subjects, forms, and art historical references.
