Drawing Papers

Be sure to check our variety of papers such as Montreal's St. Armand Canal papers and our specialty imported papers from around the globe-Thailand, India, Egypt, Japan and elsewhere. Many of these versatile papers can be used as a drawing surface in addition to their other uses in bookmaking, collage, stationary etc.

Rising Stonehenge
Rising Stonehenge paper is 100% rag, two deckle edge, neutral ph paper with a weight of 245 GSM. It is suitable for charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, silkscreen, calligraphy, acrylic and other watermedia. 25 sheet packages are 20% off.

Folio
This 100% cotton, neutral pH paper has a vellum surface and two natural deckle edges. Folio (Brite White) is an excellent paper for silkscreening,offset litho, etching, embossing, pastel, drawing,charcoal and pencil.

Fabriano Tiepolo
Mouldmade in Italy of 100% cotton, neutral pH, 2 natural deckles, 2 tear deckles. This paper has a velvety wove surface. It is suitable for all printmaking techniques and it is also an excellent drawing paper.

Somerset Book
From St. Cuthbert's Mill in England comes a beautiful and versatile paper made from 100% cotton with a neutral pH and two natural deckle edges. Somerset Book is a finely textured, lighttweight sheet with a wove finish. It is a perfect paper for stationary,small editions,bookprinting and as an inexpensive drawing paper.

St. Armand Canal Paper
From their unique mill on the banks of Montreal's historic Lachine Canal come St. Armand's Canal Papers. An excellent textured paper for drawing, pastel work and light washes. St. Armand Master's Drawing Papers
Handmade from pure linen rag with four natural edges and naturally sized. Excellent for drawing, calligraphy and fine books. Check with us for colour availability.

Canson Mi-Teintes Paper
These papers are acid free (except black), with a high rag content and offer a range of over thirty lightfast colours. Excellent medium surface for pastel, charcoal and other work.

Canson Ingres Paper
Canson Ingres is a 65% rag paper that is acid free and gelatin sized. This laid paper is great for all dry media including pencil, soft pastel, charcoal and graphite. Available colours are listed below. Please check with our staff for the availabliity of stock.

Fabriano Ingres Paper 
Fabriano Ingres is acid free and features a range of highly lightfast colours. It is commonly used for posters, calendars, brochures, catalogues and bookbinding in addition to providing an excellent surface for pastel, tempera and collage.
Please note: as of 2010 Fabriano Ingres has been discontinued in our currently stocked size. We have existing stock of the colours listed below.

Fabriano Tiziano Paper 
Fabriano Tiziano is acid free and made of 40% cotton fibre in lightfast colours. It is great for soft pastel, pencil/charcoal drawing, gouache, and good for acrylic painting and oil pastels.

Graph Paper
Our Clear Print graph paper is made from 100% new cotton,has non-reproducible lines for photocopying and is solvent free. Our Alvin Cross Section pad is acid free,archival and also features non-reproducible lines.

Paper Rolls
Our Strathmore rolls in two different weights make for excellent drawing surfaces. The 400 Series is slightly creamier with more tooth than the Strathmore 300 and both are also available in pads. Please ask us for more details. The Yasutomo Rice paper is excellent for watercolour as well as Chinese ink and brushwork (calligraphy or painting).

Cougar and Lynx Cover Stock
Cougar and Lynx papers are non-rag, smooth finish cardstock and are excellent substitutes for Mayfair Cover and Bristol Board. Both are suitable as a drawing and painting surface (when primed with gesso).They are valued as inexpensive papers with high opacity for minimum show-through and two-sided painting.

Blotting Paper
An economical, non-rag, white blotter made for general use.

Legion Archival Tissue Paper
This is a tissue machinemade in the USA of 100% high alpha cellulose, neutral pH, non-buffered, with no deckles.

Legion Interleaving
This interleaving is machinemade in the USA of 100% high alpha cellulose, neutral pH, buffered, with no deckles.

Newsprint 
An inexpensive paper for sketching or preliminary drawings.

Tracing Paper
A variety of weights and sizes.

Borden and Riley Paris Bleedproof Pads
A cool white, smooth, hard surface that will not feather or bleed when ink is applied. Paris Bleedproof is ideal for technical illustrations, fine line pen and ink work as well as calligraphy.

Cartridge Paper
Bleached wood pulp paper for use with pencil, charcoal, pastel and other drawing materials.

Bond Paper
Bleached wood pulp paper for use with pencil, charcoal, pastel and other drawing materials.

Manilla Paper
A wood pulp paper that is cream in colour and is suitable where extra tooth is required.

Student Scratch Board and Black Clayboard 
Black chalk- coated paper for scraping techniques and fine detail line work. Closely spaced lines produce a range of tones and textures. Coloured inks may be added to scratched areas for added effect. Available in individual sheets and prepared masonite boards.
