$30.00 + GST - FULL

We are happy to introduce a new artist and bookbinder to this year's annual workshop. Kim has an interest in fiber crafts such as knitting, tatting and spinning. She also developed her love for learning about Japan’s culture, and wanted to pass on the knowledge of book binding to her community.

Kim’s books explore different techniques of book binding with threads and needles, using a traditional technique from feudal Japan. These books highlight the simple to complex patterns of sewing that is indicative of Japanese paper art and design. Each of these three books use motifs and colors that signify their individual themes. For the first book, Kim used a simple stich pattern with Take Green leaf motif cover paper, which reminisced a walk through lush Bamboo, clean and tranquil. The second book employed juxtaposition of contrasting yellow threads and Canson Mi-Teintes Turquoise to resemble a bright summer sky on a hot day. The third book took on a more complex yet harmonic play of geometric patterns, representing the blend of tradition and modernity in Japanese art, fashion and culture. All three have signatures made from Soft White Arturo book papers.

All workshop tools and materials are included in the registration fee. Limit of 15 participants.
